Joining Grace's Happy Revolution...

One of my dearest friends, who is a beautiful writer might I add, posted about her "Happy Revolution" and I've decided to join it, SUMMER STYLE. (Click the link to read--graceblaser1221.blogspot.com) This summer has gone not at all what I imagined it to be; no elaborate vacations, no hanging out 24/7, me having to give up many netflixing days to do something productive, etc. But all in all I've loved every moment of it, the good and the bad. And so with that, I want to share some of my most memorable, happiest experiences that have happened over the past 2 1/2 months.

Right before school ended, my family took a trip to the big island of Hawaii. I love this place with all my heart.

The week after school got out, I went to girls camp (one of my most favorite events of the whole year), and our ward actually won the first ever annual certification challenge.

As an early birthday present, my parents got me a Canon Rebel T5, which is now one of my most favorite and prized possessions. This camera (named Rwanda) made documenting Summer that much better!

My sixteenth birthday was spent eating delicious foods, taking pictures with friends, and dragging these adorable balloons around all over the place. Not to mention I got my license the same day.

High Adventure 2015-- Goblin Valley, Utah
This is us on our 8 mile hike through slot canyons. Might I add a lot of us thought we were going to die of heat stroke... but we ate steak after our hike so it was okay.

Yet another picture from High Adventure, looking out over the goblins.

I don't think I have ever had a Summer where I didn't go boating at least once.

Thankful for Kels, who took me on countless adventures (most of them involving food) these past few months.

We got the chance to go to the first ever SLC Delta Airlines Block Party. Basically it was the best thing ever and I'm really happy my dad is a pilot.

This is Grashley: the best partners in crime there ever was. And we totally rocked being city girls that day. Also this was the day I got asked out on my first date so holla.

This years Fourth of July was probably my favorite, for too many reasons to write.

This year our youth boating activity was up at Deer Creek (WHICH WAS FREEZING).

Madi totally rocked my Summer, and I'm so blessed to have her.

Our family went to the Hill Air Force Space museum for the first time, and my Dad was going completely crazy from awe.
(A pilot's life is the best life.)

Madi introduced me to hammocking. For the record, I'd take it over netflixing.

Hiking is secretly a joy of mine, and the Timp Caves are totally worth it.

Many days were spent in American Fork canyon, but I loved every one of them because who could get sick of something so beautiful?

I absolutely love every moment I get to spend with this cute kid.
And ice cream isn't too bad either.

I'm so thankful for a family who takes me on cool adventures.
They made this Summer one for the books.

I'm sad to see Summer go, but I have a feeling that this upcoming school year will bring more happiness than anticipated.

Always choose happiness.

17 Things I Don't Hate About You

Dear Grace, I literally have less than no idea of how to write this. But it's your birthday and I figure I'll get through it one way or another. Also, in case you didn't catch it (even though I know you did), the title to this post is a play-on-words of that Hannah Montana song. There are a whole lot more things that I don't hate about you, but for todays purposes I'm just sticking with 17. Because, ya know. You're 17. 1. You're hilarious. When I say you're one of the funniest people I've ever met, I mean it. Sarcasm, puns, awkward inappropriate words, random jokes, holding a stranger's hand; the list goes on forever. I can't tell you how many times you've made me cry from laughter. Being with you can literally turn my day around, and that is a quality that is rarely possessed by human beans. ;) 2.  You're smart. Like really smart. And thank heavens you are because if it hadn't been for both of us being in ACAD f...

A Toast:

*clinks champagne glass filled with apple cider* Lately I have been dwelling on the people I love and cherish in my life. Wait, no. Start again. *ahem* Sometimes I feel as if I take people for granted. Not use them, but more along the lines of just thinking their presence isn't a big deal. But it is. True friends are hard to find, and I'm probably the most luckiest person in the world to know and love as many wonderful people as I do. So here's to the people who make my day in our group convos. Here's to my family for making life exciting. Here's to the friend who gives me advice for everything. Here's to the time we chucked jello. Here's to my favorite cousin for quoting Fantastic Mr. Fox. Here's to everyone who drives me to places and makes me laugh till I cry. Here's to the time we made a music video. Here's to when we went to Texas for the heck of it. Here's to all the letters and notes given. Here's to surprise birthday lemo...

Defining Moments

People say that trials make or break us, and I full-heartedly agree. Sure, trials present stupid situations and life-changing decisions, but these are what I call "defining moments". How we respond and retaliate to adversity says a lot about our character, and who we are as a human being. It can make us or break us, and it's completely up to you. We are all unique, therefore our capacity for heartbreak and tribulation varies. For example, person A is going through a parent's divorce, and person B is battling severe illness. Person A couldn't even comprehend person B's trial, and same goes otherwise. Each trial is specific to a person's needs and potential, but each is meant to be a "defining moment". Defining moments range from all over the spectrum, and each person will continually face them throughout life. Just remember: each trial comes with a lesson, and the end product will be the most wonderful "you" possible. My defi...
